Katherine FM Studio build

In late 2014, Katherine FM approached Wireless Components to design a complete digital solution for their two studios. We provided an AEQ Capitol console to demo in-situ to allow presenters and John Zelley (board and tech) the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the equipment and its features. John was able to provide the following https://broadcastcomponents.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/02 and quotes for us.

“We were very comfortable to come back to a business that has gone the extra mile to look after us. We have used Wireless Components before to buy our gear for a transmitter upgrade”

AEQ is known for its audio distribution, use of Dante Audio over IP (AoIP), cost effective and high quality equipment and ongoing commitment to implementat customer feedback. With a history of more than 35 years in manufacture and development, worldwide audio distribution at both the winter and summer Olympics, World Cups and European games Wireless Components and Katherine FM were confident in this equipment decision

“After what seemed like years and countless hours researching our options … we chose AEQ after the demonstration and using the Capitol console. We were impressed as it worked really well and the announcers liked the look as well. We loved the feature list and how we could mix and match our old analogue equipment with the new AoIP”

Katherine FM were interested in an AoIP solution with two studio consoles, a rack mounted converter solution and a telephone hybrid. “After a discussion with Sean we went with the AEQ Capitol IP desks, as well as 2 Netbox 32’s and a Systel IP phone system. It was like Christmas for us at the station (lots of new boxes). We were able to add network infrastructure with Netgear gigabyte routers from Wireless Components to our racks which you can see from the photos is starting to look impressive.”

“Its safe to say that 90% of the gear in this rack Wireless components have supplied Katherine FM and their follow up support has been fantastic”

Wireless Components supplied Katherine FM the following equipment for their studio racks and transmission site

Netbox 32
ADA102 STL IP link
DSPX-FM Processor
Systel IP 12
RDS3
V2 Transmitter tx1500 small
NanoBridge 5GHz link
Satellite Decoder

As well as OB gear, a rebroadcast solution and more…

The installation of the consoles and studio equipment was the next task for John and Katherine FM. With the furniture being supplied by a local cabinet maker, Wireless Components provided the following studio gear-

  CAPITOL IP
HMD280 factory terminated Headsets
HB02 connectors

As well as- Touch Screen Monitors and Mounts, DN501C CD players and factory terminated audio leads and connectors

The feedback on the installed equipment speaks for itself

“Blow me down the Dante Audio over IP was the so easy to set up. A few mouse clicks, installed Dante virtual sound card and we were off and running”

“Sean’s product Knowledge and support made my life very easy, we are extremely thankful for their aftersales help and knowledge. We now have this studio completed and being used on a regular basis. The breaky show Announcers have fallen in love with this clean studio and the ease of operation on the new desk. We here at Katherine FM cannot sing these guys praises enough. They look after us to the max make sure you give these guys a call for all your requirements.”
